Futurebiotics® L-Tyrosine is a non-essential, free-form amino acid that is vital to the structure of most proteins in the body. It is important in the proper functioning of the thyroid, adrenal, and pituitary glands. L-Tyrosine is also a precursor for the neurotransmitters: dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine.
Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid, which is synthesized in the body from the amino acid, phenylalanine. L-Tyrosine is used to treat an inherited disorder called phenylketonuria (PKU), which means phenylalanine is not processed properly so the body is unable to make Tyrosine. This disorder requires supplemental tyrosine.
A nootropic supplement – a substance purported to enhance cognitive ability – L-Tyrosine has been shown to enhance brain, mood, memory, and stress response during stressful situations.
Research demonstrates L-Tyrosine helps improve complex cognitive processes like word association, cognitive flexibility, and updating. Shown to promote convergent ("deep") thinking.
A precursor to neurotransmitters and increases plasma neurotransmitter levels, in particular dopamine and norepinephrine. When subjected to stressful conditions and stress depletes neurotransmitter levels, L-Tyrosine works to replenish levels, which helps boost mental acuity and alertness. Early research indicates that L-Tyrosine may help improve memory and reasoning in individuals who are sleep deprived. L-Tyrosine is naturally found in protein-containing foods like dairy, eggs, fish, & meats, along with beans, wheat & oats.
